by Laser treatment, home light devices, pens and sprays are different ways to approach a thick or discolored nail. A laser is a procedure, while a pen or spray is a topical routine; compare the label, price, session or application schedule, and refund terms before you choose.

Does laser treatment work for toenail fungus?
Laser treatment is used with the goal of improving nail appearance. The FDA’s FDA 510(k) record classifies the LunulaLaser category as lasers for a “temporary increase of clear nail” in patients with onychomycosis; a 510(k) decision is substantial equivalence, not FDA approval.
A 2022 laser treatment review reported combined clinical-cure rates of 13.0%–16.7% in short-pulsed studies and 25.9% in long-pulsed studies; no included trial reported complete cure. The review reports laser-monotherapy trials and does not evaluate the specific home devices listed here.
A healthier-looking section has to grow forward from the base of the nail. The WebMD treatment guide says a toenail may take 12 to 18 months to grow out, so take photos in the same light and look for new growth rather than judging the whole old nail at once.
Laser, home light, pen or spray: what is the difference?
| Option | How you use it | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Clinic laser | A clinician treats the nail in an appointment. | WebMD says appointments take about 30 minutes and commonly involve at least two sessions spaced five to six weeks apart. |
| Home light device | You place a toe or finger in the device following its instructions. | Check the stated light type, session length, number of nails handled and daily schedule. |
| Topical pen | You brush liquid onto the selected nail. | A pen is a simple repeatable nail-care step; check the complete ingredient list and directions. |
| Topical spray | You apply an external-use aerosol or liquid. | Check the active ingredient and whether the label specifically covers nails. |
Laser appointments are generally not covered by insurance, according to WebMD. For topical label questions, see our nail fungus cream guide.

What should you check on a pen or spray label?
A pen is an applicator format, not an ingredient. The Fungabeam Pen seller calls its product cosmetic nail care and says to apply it morning and night. Before ordering, check the full ingredient declaration, external-use directions, warnings and storage instructions.
Topical routines work around a thick, slow-growing nail. WebMD says prescription topicals may require daily use for up to a year, while over-the-counter creams, gels, sprays and patches can take months. Keep the daily work manageable: wash and dry your feet, trim nails straight across, follow the product instructions, change damp socks or shoes, and track fresh growth at the base.
Does toenail fungus laser treatment hurt, and when should you get care?
The Fungabeam device seller calls its low-level light sessions painless. Those statements describe the sellers’ products; follow the directions that come with the option you choose.
If symptoms are severe or painful, or a toenail turns brown or black, Scripps care guidance says to make an appointment with a primary care doctor or podiatrist rather than self-treat. MedlinePlus nail information also notes that infection can change a nail’s color, texture and shape.
What about hydrogen peroxide and homemade remedies?
Hydrogen peroxide and vinegar are common home-remedy ideas, but Scripps says they have not been shown effective in clinical studies. WebMD says nothing clears toenail fungus instantly. If you prefer to start with a no-purchase step, keep feet dry, change out of damp socks and shoes, use clean clippers, and avoid sharing nail tools.
What do the refund and billing terms mean?
| Product | Return or guarantee terms | Checkout detail |
|---|---|---|
| KTS | GoSupps says damaged or defective items can receive a full refund within 30 days of ordering; an order returned because it cannot clear customs may receive 60% of its value. | GoSupps lists US$19.99 fixed shipping. |
| BowLift | Its page says, “within 30 days, we’ll refund your money, no questions asked.” | By clicking Add to Cart, BowLift says you agree to recurring subscription billing at the frequency and price shown during checkout. It says you can cancel through the customer portal or support@bowlift.com. |
| Fungabeam Toenail Fungus Device | The seller says it offers a 30-day money-back guarantee and refunds the full purchase price if you are not satisfied within the first month. |
