Cleanses often change what you eat and drink, and some add supplements, herbs, or laxatives. Any of those can matter when your body is already working with medicines or health conditions. This page explains why and gives you a question list to bring along.

Why do your medicines matter before a cleanse?

The FDA says pharmacists can answer questions about food and drug interactions. Its consumer update FDA Pharmacists Help You Use Medicines Safely gives grapefruit juice as an example: for some people taking a statin, large amounts can make a medicine too strong. The FDA notes that the strength of this kind of interaction varies from drug to drug.

A cleanse can change your diet in the same way. A juice-only plan, a new herbal tea, or an added supplement is a change a pharmacist can check against what you take. The FDA says your pharmacist should know everything you take for your health, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and supplements. It also says to share your medical history, past reactions to medicines, and whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

One general safety note from us: do not change or stop a prescribed medicine on your own because of a cleanse. Talk with your prescriber or pharmacist first.

Which medical conditions deserve a conversation first?

The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH), part of the National Institutes of Health, describes “detoxes” and “cleanses” as a wide range of practices, from fasting and juice-only diets to supplements, herbs, colon cleansing, and sauna use. In its fact sheet on detoxes and cleanses, NCCIH points to several situations with extra risk:

• Diabetes. NCCIH says to follow the eating plan your health care team recommends and to consult your providers before making major changes to how you eat.
• Kidney stones. Some cleanse juices use high-oxalate foods, such as leafy greens and beets. NCCIH says people prone to kidney stones should limit those foods.
• Digestive, colon, kidney, or heart conditions. NCCIH says colon cleansing can have side effects, some serious, and that harm is more likely in people with a history of gastrointestinal disease, colon surgery, severe hemorrhoids, kidney disease, or heart disease.
• Children, older adults, and weakened immune systems. Juice that hasn't been pasteurized or otherwise treated to kill harmful bacteria can make people sick, and NCCIH says the illness can be serious for these groups.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, the FDA says to tell your pharmacist. That is a good reason to ask before trying any cleanse.

How can a cleanse lead to dehydration?

NCCIH describes three routes:

• Laxatives. Some programs include them. They can cause diarrhea, and NCCIH says acute diarrhea can lead to dehydration and poor absorption of nutrients.
• Fasting. NCCIH says fasting can cause headaches, fainting, weakness, and dehydration.
• Water and herbal tea with no food. NCCIH says drinking large amounts this way for days in a row could cause dangerous electrolyte imbalances.

So the answer isn't simply “drink more water.” How much fluid is right for you depends on your medicines and conditions, which is a good question for your clinician.

What does the research say about cleanses?

NCCIH says the few human studies on detox programs have been low quality, and that a 2015 review found no compelling research supporting detox diets for weight management or removing toxins. A 2017 review found that juicing and detox diets can cause early weight loss from low calorie intake, but they tend to lead to weight gain once normal eating resumes. Which warning signs mean you should pause?

We are an editorial team, not clinicians, and we can't tell you which symptoms are serious for you. Based on the risks above, these are reasonable reasons to stop and call a healthcare professional:

• Feeling faint or unusually weak
• Diarrhea that doesn't settle
• Ongoing headaches during a fast
• Any symptom that worries you or gets worse

A pre-cleanse question list for your pharmacist or clinician

Bring this list, or screenshot it. Add the product's ingredient list or the program's written instructions if you have them.

1. Here is everything I take: prescriptions, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and supplements. Do any of them interact with the foods, juices, herbs, or supplements in this cleanse?
2. Do any of my medicines need to be taken with food, or at set times, that a fast or very low food intake would disrupt?
3. Do my health conditions (diabetes, kidney, heart, digestive, or others) make this cleanse riskier for me?
4. Does this program include laxatives, enemas, or colon cleansing? Is that a concern for my history?
5. How much fluid should I drink, and are there amounts I should avoid?
6. Would you look at the ingredient list for anything unfamiliar or anything that might interact with my medicines?
7. Which symptoms should make me stop and call you, and which mean I should go to urgent care?
8. I'm interested in this because of ongoing symptoms. Should we look into the cause first?
9. Is there a gentler way to work toward the goal I have in mind?

Supplements and hidden ingredients

Supplements deserve the same questions as medicines. As one example, our MatchaTide review page notes that the seller's product page doesn't list ingredient amounts or complete safety warnings. It says to review the ingredients with a clinician before use if you take prescription medicines. The same applies to any product with an incomplete label. NCCIH also reports that the FDA and the Federal Trade Commission have acted against some detox and cleansing products that contained hidden ingredients, which is one more reason to have a pharmacist read the label before you start.

The FDA also notes that false and misleading information about medical products is common online, and that pharmacists can help you sort out what you have read.

What can you do next?

• Write down everything you take, including supplements and herbal teas.
• Save the cleanse's ingredient list and daily instructions.
• Take the question list above to your pharmacist or clinician.
• If you have a side effect or a medication error, you can report it to the FDA through MedWatch.

Maybe you finished a juice cleanse, a sauna week, or a “reset” program and you feel great. That feeling is real, and nobody can take it from you. But “I feel lighter” and “it removed toxins from my body” are two very different statements, and they need very different proof.

The short answer

A feeling is something you notice. A medical outcome, such as removing toxins, treating an illness, or changing a lab result, has to be measured. The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) says only a small number of detox studies have been done in people, and the studies themselves have been low quality because of design problems, few participants, or no peer review. It also reports that a 2015 review found no compelling research supporting detox diets for weight management or for eliminating toxins.

That doesn't make your experience wrong. It means the experience can't, by itself, prove the label's claim.

What people mean by a “detox”

NCCIH describes detoxes and cleanses as diets, routines, or therapies suggested as ways to remove toxins, lose weight, or promote health. They can include:

• Fasting or drinking only juices
• Eating only certain foods
• Using supplements, herbs, or other commercial products
• Colon cleansing with enemas, laxatives, or colon hydrotherapy
• Reducing environmental exposures
• Using a sauna

With so many different practices under one word, “does detox work?” has no single answer. Ask a narrower question instead: what exactly is this claim saying will happen?

A claim-sorting guide: feeling, function, medical outcome

This sorting method is our own, not a medical standard. The “evidence needed” lines describe what each kind of claim would have to show, drawing on the gaps NCCIH and the FDA point out. Match the claim you're looking at to a level, then check what it would take to support it.

Level 1: A feeling

• Example claim: “I feel lighter, clearer, and more energized.”
• What it tells you: How you felt. That's worth paying attention to.
• What it can't tell you: Why you felt that way. NCCIH notes that juicing and detox diets can cause early weight loss because they are low in calories, and that fasting can cause headaches, fainting, weakness, and dehydration. Several things change at once during a cleanse, so a good feeling can have more than one explanation.
• Evidence needed to link the practice to the feeling: A well-designed study with enough participants and peer review, the very things NCCIH says detox research has lacked.

Level 2: A function or measurable change

• Example claims: “My digestion is more regular.” “I lost weight.”
• What it tells you: Something you can track at home changed.
• What it can't tell you: Whether anything was “cleansed.” NCCIH cites a 2017 review saying detox diets can cause initial weight loss from low-calorie intake, but weight tends to return once a person eats normally again. NCCIH also notes that laxatives can cause diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration and poor absorption of nutrients. A change in your bowels isn't proof of cleansing.
• Evidence needed: Results measured over time, including after the program ends. NCCIH says no studies show the long-term effects of detox programs.

Level 3: A medical outcome

These claims are the ones to slow down on, because they promise something about your health that only testing can confirm.

• “It removes toxins.”
  • Evidence needed: Name the substance, show it was measured in people before and after, and show the method was safe. NCCIH reports no compelling research that detox diets eliminate toxins.
  • One distinction: NCCIH notes that the CDC recommends chelation therapy, a medical procedure, for removing toxic metals in some specific serious cases. That is a different thing from a wellness cleanse, and NCCIH's fact sheet doesn't cover it.
• “It treats or helps cure an illness.”
  • Evidence needed: Proof that the product is safe and effective for that specific use. The FDA describes health fraud scams as products that claim to prevent, treat, or cure diseases or conditions but are not proven safe and effective for those uses. NCCIH says FDA and the Federal Trade Commission have taken action against several detox or cleansing sellers for marketing products as treatments for serious diseases.
• “It improves my lab results.”
  • Evidence needed: Large, well-designed, peer-reviewed studies. NCCIH says some small detox studies reported positive results on weight and fat loss, insulin resistance, and blood pressure, but their quality was low.
  • Important: If you manage diabetes or any other condition with a care team, don't change your plan based on a cleanse. NCCIH advises people with diabetes to follow their health care team's eating plan and consult their providers before major changes.

An editorial tip: Words like “flush,” “purge,” “reverse,” “cure,” and “permanently” usually signal a claim at a higher level than the product's evidence supports. When you see one, ask what was measured and who measured it.

Safety limits worth knowing

NCCIH says some detox and cleansing programs can be unsafe and falsely advertised. Specific cautions from its fact sheet:

• Colon cleansing: Evidence for colonic irrigation is limited and insufficient for its prescribed uses, and it can have side effects, some serious. Harm is more likely in people with a history of gastrointestinal disease, colon surgery, severe hemorrhoids, kidney disease, or heart disease.
• Unpasteurized juices: Juices that haven't been pasteurized or otherwise treated to kill harmful bacteria can make people sick, and the illness can be serious in children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
• High-oxalate juices: Juices made from foods such as leafy greens and beets can be a concern for people prone to kidney stones.
• Severe restriction: Diets that sharply limit calories or food types usually don't lead to lasting weight loss and may not provide all the nutrients you need.
• Days without food: Drinking large amounts of water and herbal tea while not eating for days can lead to dangerous electrolyte imbalances.
• Product risks: The FDA and FTC have taken action against some detox or cleansing products that contained hidden ingredients and may pose a significant health risk, as well as against colon-cleansing devices marketed for unapproved uses.

Not every fasting plan is sold as a detox. NCCIH says intermittent and periodic fasting are being researched, but there are no firm conclusions yet about their effects on human health.

Who should talk with a professional first

NCCIH encourages everyone to tell their health care providers about any complementary health approach they use, including detoxes and cleanses. Please check in before starting if you:

• have a history of digestive disease, colon surgery, kidney disease, or heart disease
• have diabetes
• are prone to kidney stones
• are choosing a program for a child, an older adult, or someone with a weakened immune system
• are considering several days of fasting or a very restricted diet

Fasting and laxatives can cause the effects described above, including fainting, weakness, dehydration, and diarrhea. If you notice any of them during a cleanse, contact a health care provider.

Questions to ask before you trust a detox claim

1. Is the claim about a feeling, a function, or a medical outcome?
2. Which toxin is meant, and how was it measured in people before and after?
3. Was the finished program or product studied in people, with results published in a peer-reviewed journal?
4. Does the seller say it treats or cures a disease? If so, where is the proof it is safe and effective for that use?
5. What does my own health care provider say about my situation?

What you can do next

• Write the claim down word for word, then sort it into feeling, function, or medical outcome.
• Keep your own notes. If you try a lifestyle change, log what you changed and how you feel. That's useful information for you and for your clinician.
• Bring the label or program details to a pharmacist or doctor and ask the questions above.

• Report a bad reaction or a false claim. You can report a problem with an FDA-regulated product through the FDA.

No. Cordyceps has not been shown to cause weight loss in people. The weight-related findings that get cited come from animal studies, and Harvard Health says well-designed human trials of medicinal mushrooms are lacking. The human research that does exist is mostly about exercise, and it gives mixed results.

Does cordyceps help you lose weight?

Harvard Health notes that some mushroom coffee brands claim their products help with weight loss by boosting metabolism and burning fat. It then says there is very little research on medicinal mushrooms that includes humans, that benefits seen in test tubes or animals may not apply to people, and that none of the research was done on mushroom coffee itself.

The weight and metabolism findings you may see quoted are animal findings:

• Myprotein says the idea that cordyceps has anti-obesity effects during menopause rests on one study in rats, and that human research is needed.
• MedicineNet describes animal work in which cordyceps extract improved insulin sensitivity over 25 days, and another in which it lowered fasting blood glucose by 27% over 17 days. It says it is not clear these effects happen in people.

So a cordyceps supplement is not a fat-loss tool on current evidence. Weight change comes mainly from your overall eating pattern, movement, sleep and any medical factors, and a clinician or registered dietitian can look at those with you. What are cordyceps benefits, for men and for women?

Cordyceps is a fungus that grows on insect larvae. It is used in traditional Chinese medicine, and Memorial Sloan Kettering says supplements come as capsules, powders and liquid extracts. The sources describe the same research areas for men and women, and none of them gives a sex-specific benefit that has been confirmed in people.

A randomized trial and a 2025 meta-analysis of exercise outcomes are indexed on PubMed (trial, meta-analysis). They looked at different species, preparations and doses, and their findings vary by product, population and outcome.

Do cordyceps raise testosterone?

Not in any human study described by these sources. Memorial Sloan Kettering says cordyceps stimulated testosterone production in mice and that whether it does the same in humans is not known. The mouse work cited there used cell and animal models, so a testosterone change in a man taking a supplement is unproven.

How long do cordyceps take to work?

There is no reliable timeline. Feel's blog says you may notice effects almost immediately because many compounds are water-soluble, but it names no study on timing. In trials, exercise measures were checked after 5 weeks (no change in cyclists) and after 12 weeks (gains in older adults). For weight there is no human data to build a timeline from, and no supplement outcome or timeline is guaranteed.

What doses have been studied, and what form is best?

The studies in these sources used different species, forms and doses:

Sellers give different guidance. Feel says doses of 1,000 to 4,000 mg per day were well tolerated in clinical studies, VitaminLab says typical doses run upwards of 2,000 mg and suggests starting at 500 mg, and Myprotein says there are no set guidelines and cites a suggestion not to exceed 4 g per day of C. sinensis for more than five months a year. Because these numbers conflict, a clinician is the better source for any dose.

On form, no source shows that one is best. What differs is the species and the part of the fungus:

• Cordyceps sinensis is the traditional wild species. VitaminLab says it cannot be cultivated and is very expensive, so most products use cultured material.
• Cordyceps militaris can be grown as a fruiting body. VitaminLab says its compound profile is similar to C. sinensis.
• Mycelium versus fruiting body: MedicineNet says about 80 to 85% of mushroom supplements come from the fruiting body, but cordyceps supplements often contain only mycelium. VitaminLab notes mycelium grown on grain differs from mycelium grown in liquid culture.
• Format: Myprotein lists gummies, capsules, powders, tinctures and dried whole form. Pick the one you will take as directed, then check the label for species, part and milligrams.

Labels differ in how much they tell you. Pilly Labs lists 200 mg of cordyceps extract per gummy in its Cordyceps Energy Gummies and 50 mg per dropper in its Adaptogen Immunity Drops (Cordyceps militaris), while Feel describes a 4:1 extract and VitaminLab suggests 500 mg. Amounts like these sit below most of the study doses above, and ingredient research does not prove what a finished product will do.

Is cordyceps hard on the liver?

The sources do not point to liver harm. Memorial Sloan Kettering says no major side effects have been reported. Myprotein reports one human study that found no liver, kidney or blood-component problems over eight weeks of C. militaris, though the dose printed on that page (2.85 mg) looks unusually small, so treat it cautiously. MedicineNet describes liver benefits as early and says more research is needed. If you have liver disease or take medicines your liver processes, a clinician or pharmacist can check the details. One mushroom supplement maker's drug-interaction notice says some mushroom compounds may affect liver enzyme activity and change how certain drugs are processed.

What are the dangers and side effects?

• Bleeding: Memorial Sloan Kettering cites a case report of excessive bleeding after a tooth extraction in a person using cordyceps daily as a tonic. MedicineNet says cordyceps may act like a blood thinner and suggests those with a bleeding disorder or upcoming surgery may want to avoid it.
• Low blood sugar: lab studies suggest cordyceps may add to the effect of diabetes medicines and insulin. Clinical relevance has not been determined.
• Bone marrow cancers: in animals, cordyceps increased immature red blood cells. Memorial Sloan Kettering says people with myelogenous-type cancers should not use it.
• Pregnancy, autoimmune conditions, immunosuppressant drugs: Myprotein says people with these should talk to a healthcare professional, and that pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid cordyceps because safety research is limited.
• Long-term use: Myprotein says long-term human research is limited.

If you have a reaction to any supplement, a healthcare provider can advise you. Adverse events can be reported to the FDA at safetyreporting.hhs.gov or 1-800-FDA-1088.

What not to mix with cordyceps?

Ask a clinician or pharmacist before combining cordyceps with:

• Blood thinners such as warfarin, and antiplatelet drugs. Memorial Sloan Kettering says cordyceps may increase bleeding risk.
• Insulin or other blood-sugar-lowering medicines.
• Immunosuppressant medicines.
• Other supplements that affect bleeding. The Cordyceps Energy Gummies, for example, also contain ginkgo (25 mg). The National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health says ginkgo has no conclusive evidence for a health condition and raises bleeding and drug-interaction concerns.

The same applies to anything that makes you drowsy or changes blood pressure if it is in the same product. Check every ingredient on the label, not only the cordyceps.

Does cordyceps help with cancer?

It is not a cancer treatment. MedicineNet describes antitumor findings from lab dishes and animals and says these are early studies. Memorial Sloan Kettering lists the same kind of findings as preclinical, and says doctors have not studied many of the other uses. If you are in cancer care, tell your oncology team about any supplement, including cordyceps, before you use it.

Lion's mane or cordyceps: which is better, and can you take both?

Neither is shown to be better, because they are studied for different things. Cordyceps research centers on exercise and immune markers. Lion's mane is usually discussed for focus, but a small 2025 acute study of 18 adults using 3 g of a 10:1 fruiting body extract found no significant overall effect on cognition or mood, with one isolated task signal. Neither has weight-loss evidence in people.

None of these sources studies the two together, so there is no research showing they work better as a pair or that the combination is safer. Some products combine them; Pilly Labs' Mushroom Energy and Cognition Drops list 100 mg of each. If you take both, add up the total daily amount and check for overlap with other products.

Why do I feel weird after taking lion's mane?

These sources do not list common lion's mane side effects, so there is no single answer. Possible reasons include individual response, a mushroom or mold sensitivity, caffeine if it was in mushroom coffee, or another ingredient in the product. Stopping or continuing is a decision for you and a clinician, especially if you take medicines or have a medical condition. Note the product, amount and timing so you can describe it.

Does the Last of Us timeline apply to cordyceps supplements?

No. The show is fiction. Myprotein notes that real cordyceps parasitize insects and that people do not need to fear them. A supplement has no “kick in” moment like the one in the show; see the timing section above.

How do you compare cordyceps products?

For weight goals, check sugar and calories too. The Cordyceps Energy Gummies list 2 g of added sugar per gummy. The 10-mushroom Mushroom Gummies list 20 calories and 5 g of added sugar per two-gummy serving, and their 250 mg blend includes cordyceps but does not say how much of each species is inside.

If you are comparing mushroom coffees, Vitality Mushroom Coffee is one example label: it lists a 90% Arabica blend with 5% Lion's Mane and 5% Chaga, and it does not list cordyceps. Confirm the caffeine amount on the bag, since sensitivity varies and the FDA's caffeine guidance explains how much is too much.

Before you buy a cordyceps product

• Is the species named (sinensis or militaris), and is it mycelium or fruiting body?
• Is the cordyceps amount listed alone, or hidden inside a blend total?
• What else is in it (ginkgo, GABA, DMAE, caffeine, sugar)?
• Do you take blood thinners, diabetes medicine or immunosuppressants, or are you pregnant, nursing or facing surgery? Ask a clinician first.
• Does the marketing promise weight loss or a fast result? The research above does not support either.

A patch is easy to like. You peel it, press it on, and get on with your day. But “easy” is a fact about the patch, not about your body. Convenience does not show that an ingredient gets through your skin, how much of it arrives, whether it changes your weight, or whether it is safe for you. Each of those is a separate question, and each needs its own evidence.

This guide walks through those four questions in plain language, gives you a claim-versus-evidence checklist, and ends with questions to bring to a pharmacist or clinician. If you are drawn to a simple fix, that is completely understandable. You still deserve straight answers before you spend money or put something on your skin.

The short answer

Skin delivery is real technology, and for medicines it is established through testing, product by product. A 2025 review of transdermal patches describes patches used for chronic pain, hormone therapy, smoking cessation, Alzheimer's disease, menopause, and contraception. The same review says real-world results are limited by differences between people, patch adhesion, and how patches are used. For a weight-loss patch, those same questions apply, and a convenient format answers none of them.

Does it get through your skin?

Skin is a barrier. The review says molecules with certain properties are generally better suited to passive, whole-body patch delivery, and it lists practical design guidelines that include a molecular weight under 500 daltons and a daily dose of 20 mg or less. The authors call these guidelines rather than rigid cut-offs, and they note that methods exist to improve penetration.

The takeaway is not that nothing can cross the skin. It is that crossing has to be shown for a specific ingredient, in a specific patch, at a specific amount. A line like “delivered straight to the bloodstream” on a package is a claim, not a measurement.

For patch medicines, that proof comes from testing. The review describes laboratory release studies, skin-permeation studies, human studies of safety and absorption, and regulatory expectations for adhesion and skin irritation. It also cautions that skin-permeation results from the lab do not always match what happens in people.

Even if it absorbs, how much arrives?

Absorption is not the same as dose. The review lists factors that can change how much passes through skin, including skin age, hydration, lipid makeup, temperature, blood flow, skin condition, and where on the body the patch sits.

Adhesion matters too. The review says that if a patch lifts or partly detaches, the rate and amount of absorption can vary unpredictably. It also summarizes FDA-recorded complaints about patches that come off with heat, cold, sweat, or showering.

Heat deserves a special mention. For medicine patches, the review advises avoiding heating pads, saunas, prolonged sun, and UV lamps while wearing one, because heat may increase absorption and the risk of side effects. If a product does not tell you how much of each ingredient is in the patch, you have no way to know what extra heat would do.

Even if the dose arrives, does it change your weight?

That takes a different kind of evidence: studies that measure weight outcomes in people using the product. The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) offers a useful template in its advice on choosing a weight-loss program. It suggests asking whether the program has been formally studied, whether results were published in a scientific journal, and whether you can get a copy or link to the findings. Those are fair questions to ask about any product.

For context, NIDDK describes obesity as a chronic disease and says a healthy eating plan and regular physical activity may help people lose weight and keep it off over the long term. When lifestyle changes are not enough, it says a health care professional may add a prescription medication. NIDDK reports that adults who take prescription weight-management medications as part of a lifestyle program lose, on average, 3% to 12% more of their starting body weight after one year than people in a lifestyle program without medication. Results vary by medication and by person. The medications in NIDDK's table are taken as pills or given by injection, and a skin patch is not on that list (page last reviewed June 2024).

Then there is oversight. FDA states that it does not have the authority to approve dietary supplements for safety and effectiveness before they are sold, and that supplement companies are responsible for meeting the safety standards. FDA's consumer page also describes supplements as products that are ingested, in forms such as tablets, capsules, gummies, and liquids. A skin patch is not among the forms it lists. That does not settle how any particular patch is regulated, which is one more good reason to ask the seller and your pharmacist.

Is it safe for you?

Safety is its own question, and a patch format does not answer it. Here is what FDA says about weight-loss products on its Weight Loss Product Notifications page:

• Many products that claim to help with weight loss, including diet pills, fat-burning pills, supplements, and teas, are likely to be contaminated with dangerous hidden ingredients.
• These products are sometimes falsely advertised as dietary supplements, food, or all-natural treatments, and they often have multiple positive reviews or spread through social media.
• They pose a serious health risk, are not guaranteed to work, and can lead to severe health problems and hospitalization.
• FDA's list covers only a small fraction of contaminated products. A product that is not on the list is not thereby safe.

FDA's warning names pills, supplements, and teas rather than patches. Our takeaway is a practical one: a label and a pile of positive reviews cannot tell you what is actually inside a product. Skin has its own risks as well. The transdermal patch review lists local skin irritation among the known challenges of patches.

A claim-versus-evidence guide

Use this as a quick check on common patch claims. For each one, the first line is what the evidence can support. The second is what it does not show.

• The claim: “It bypasses your digestive system, so it is gentler.”
  • What the evidence can support: For medicines designed for the skin, the review says patches can avoid first-pass liver metabolism and reduce the risk of stomach irritation.
  • What it does not show: That your product's ingredients cross the skin at all, or that skipping digestion makes a product safer. The review also lists skin irritation, application mistakes, and patches detaching as real problems.
• The claim: “Slow, steady release all day.”
  • What the evidence can support: Medicine patches are engineered for sustained, controlled release and are tested for release and content uniformity.
  • What it does not show: Release from the patch is not the same as absorption into your body. Adhesion, heat, sweat, and skin differences all change what arrives. Without a stated amount per patch, you cannot check any of it.
• The claim: “Natural ingredients, so it is safe.”
  • What the evidence can support: FDA advises consumers not to assume that “natural” means safe.
  • What it does not show: That the ingredient list is complete or accurate. FDA notes that hidden-ingredient weight-loss products are sometimes advertised as all-natural.
• The claim: “Thousands of happy customers.”
  • What the evidence can support: Reviews tell you how some buyers felt.
  • What it does not show: That the product was studied, is safe, or works. FDA notes that contaminated weight-loss products often have multiple positive reviews, and NIDDK lists before-and-after photos and endorsements that seem too good to be true as warning signs.
• The claim: “Lose weight fast, without changing how you eat or move.”
  • What the evidence can support: NIDDK says successful programs combine a healthy eating plan, physical activity, support, and a plan for keeping weight off, with an initial goal of 5% to 10% of starting weight within 6 months.
  • What it does not show: NIDDK lists “lose weight without diet or exercise” and “lose 30 pounds in 30 days” among the promises to avoid.

Who should talk with a professional first

Check with a pharmacist, doctor, or other qualified clinician before using any weight-loss product if you:

• take prescription or over-the-counter medicines. FDA notes that some supplements can interact with medications.
• have a medical condition, or are already working on your weight with a clinician.
• are pregnant, nursing, or planning a pregnancy.
• have sensitive skin, a skin condition, or past reactions to adhesives.
• are thinking about a product for a teenager or child.

Please do not stop or swap out a prescribed medicine for a patch or supplement. FDA specifically advises against substituting a dietary supplement for a prescription medicine.

Questions to bring to a pharmacist or clinician

1. Can we go through the full ingredient list together, including the amount of each ingredient in one patch? If amounts are missing, what does that mean for me?
2. Is there a published study of this finished patch, in people, showing that the ingredient reaches the bloodstream through the skin?
3. Is there a published study showing weight outcomes from this patch, rather than from swallowing the ingredient?
4. Could anything in it interact with my medicines, supplements, or health conditions?
5. Does heat from hot showers, saunas, or heating pads matter while I am wearing it?
6. How can I check whether this brand or its ingredients have been flagged by FDA, knowing that FDA's list is not complete?
7. What skin reactions should I watch for, and when should I remove it and call you?
8. Given my health history, which evidence-based options should I consider instead, such as a structured lifestyle program or prescription treatment?

What you can do next

• Take a photo of the package and ingredient list before you buy or use anything, so your pharmacist can review exactly what you are considering.

With weight-loss supplements sold through online ads, complaints described in consumer alerts and comments include unexpected charges, slow or missing delivery, and refunds that turn out harder than the ad promised. LipoPeak's own policies contain several points that could cause exactly those problems, and a few of them contradict each other. The biggest conflict is whether you keep your bottles or send them all back, so settle that in writing before you buy.

What do buyers of weight-loss products like this complain about?

The Better Business Bureau issued a scam alert about weight-loss products, reported by NBC's TODAY. It describes fake AI videos of celebrities and doctors used to sell products, and shipments that may never arrive. One example was a “pink salt” drink called Lipomax. The BBB received more than 170 complaints about it, with many buyers saying they spent over $300, and the support email bounced back when they asked for refunds. That is a different product from LipoPeak, but it shows the pattern to watch for: a charge, then a support channel that goes quiet.

The FTC's weight-loss scam advice adds two warnings. Glowing reviews are sometimes written by the seller or paid for, and “before and after” photos are often stock or altered pictures. It also lists promises that signal a scam: lose weight without watching what you eat, lose weight permanently, lose weight just by taking a pill, lose 30 pounds in 30 days, or a product that works for everyone. Commenters under that FTC alert, writing about other weight-loss products, describe being charged more than the advertised price and not getting a response from support.

None of that is a finding about LipoPeak. It tells you which things to check, and the next sections do that using LipoPeak's own pages.

Where can you check LipoPeak complaints yourself?

A forum thread or a BBB complaint record can show you things this page cannot, so look at the most recent entries. Pay attention to the dates, whether the same problem repeats (charges, delivery, refunds), and whether the company replied. Treat anonymous posts with caution in both directions, since the FTC notes that reviews can be written by sellers. The same goes for the five-star testimonials on LipoPeak's sales page. Those are the seller's own marketing, each with a first name and a city.

One cheap test before you pay: call the support number or send the support email and see whether a person answers. The seller's contact page says phone support runs 7AM to 9PM, seven days a week, and that email replies take 24 hours or less.

What do LipoPeak's own terms say about billing, shipping and refunds?

This is what the seller's shipping, refund and terms pages say, matched to the problem you might have.

Where do LipoPeak's pages disagree with each other?

This matters because a policy that contradicts itself is where refund arguments start. Ask support to settle each point in writing.

• Keep the bottles or send them back? The sales page FAQ says “you keep the bottles” and that you only need to email, with no phone calls. The refund policy says to notify the seller and send unused bottles back, with you paying return shipping. The shipping policy is stricter: you must return all bottles, including empty, partly used and “bonus” bottles, with a note inside, or you get only a partial refund or no refund.
• How to ask. The sales page says email. The refund policy says call or email. The terms say email or phone, with your email address or order number.
• Support phone number. The contact page lists one number and the refund policy lists a different one. The email, support@lipopeak.com, is the same on every page.
• Shipping speed. The sales page FAQ says orders ship the day you order and usually arrive in 3 to 5 business days. The shipping policy says 1 to 2 business days to process, before transit time.
• Refund timing. The shipping policy says a refund can take 3 to 5 business days to show up. The refund policy says 5 to 7 business days for a credit card and 5 to 10 for a debit card.
• Where disputes go. One version of the terms says disputes are decided under the laws of Barbados, by binding arbitration there, with a waiver of class actions. The disclaimer page says U.S. law and U.S. courts. That makes a legal fight with the seller unattractive either way, which is one more reason to keep your request in writing and early.

How do you get a refund from LipoPeak?

1. Act inside the 60 days. The guarantee runs 60 days from the date you ordered. For a full refund where you return product, the shipping policy says the package must arrive at the seller's fulfillment center within those 60 days, so ship it well before the deadline.
2. Contact support first. Email support@lipopeak.com and call. Include your order ID, full name, the address the order went to, your email and your phone number. Ask whether you must return the bottles.
3. If you are told to return them, follow the shipping policy. Include every bottle, put a note inside with your order ID, name, address, email, phone number and the packing slip if you have it, and ship by USPS with a tracking number. The shipping and refund pages list a Colorado return address. You pay return shipping.
4. Keep records. Save your receipt, the confirmation email, screenshots of the offer and guarantee, your message to support, and the tracking number.
5. Watch your statement. The refund policy says you get an email when the refund is processed, and the bank can take several more days to post it.
6. If support stalls, contact your card issuer and ask what options you have. You can also report the problem at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, the FTC's reporting site.

Will you be charged again after the first payment?

The seller's FAQ says LipoPeak is a one-time payment with no subscription, no hidden fees and no auto-billing. The sales page footer says BuyGoods is the retailer of the product, so your receipt and card statement may show that name. Compare your statement against your receipt. If you see a charge you did not agree to, or a total higher than the price you were shown, email support and tell your card issuer promptly.

How much does LipoPeak cost?

Prices as of October 2, 2026; check the checkout for today's. The offer page also carries urgency messages, such as “only 37 personalized bottles remain,” so take your time and read the final total. A second version of the offer lists different prices for two of the bundles.

Check whether shipping is added to the two-bottle and three-bottle totals before you pay. The bottles are listed as 1 fl oz (30 ml) each. The sales page also says you were recommended the six-bottle kit “based on your profile,” even though you have given it no information, so read that as a sales suggestion.

What is in LipoPeak, and how strong is the evidence?

The seller says LipoPeak is formulated to support metabolism, energy and appetite balance alongside healthy eating and activity. Its page lists these ingredients and what the seller says they do. It does not list the amount of each ingredient.

These are the seller's descriptions, and the sales page says it developed the product “based on years of clinical research.” Ask support for the studies on the finished product and the amount of each ingredient per serving. Grady Health says chromium and magnesium help the body regulate blood sugar and that low levels are linked to high blood sugar, and it points to foods like nuts and lean meats for chromium. The sales page also says “no side effects, no yo-yo effect,” and its testimonials report 19 to 31 pounds lost. One says the person changed nothing about what they eat. The FTC lists “you don't have to watch what you eat” among the false promises to be wary of, and the FAQ itself says individual results vary and are not guaranteed.

Is it safe, and who should check with a doctor first?

The seller's FAQ says to tell your doctor before starting any new supplement, including if you take blood pressure medication, metformin or antidepressants, because your doctor may want to adjust prescriptions as your weight changes. Follow that, and ask your clinician or pharmacist before you start, especially if you are on any diabetes medicine. Cleveland Clinic warns that it can be dangerous to take supplements or herbals said to lower blood sugar while on diabetes medications, and that many natural remedies have no research backing their effectiveness and safety. One testimonial on the sales page says a doctor reduced the writer's medication. Never change or stop a medication on your own because of a supplement.

The FDA warns that many weight-loss pills and supplements are likely to be contaminated with hidden drug ingredients, which can cause severe health problems. It notes these products often have multiple positive reviews and spread through social media. The FDA's weight loss product notifications cover only a small fraction of products, and a product missing from the list is not thereby safe. If you have a reaction, contact a health professional and report it to the FDA.

Is LipoPeak the same as Lipofit or other products people mention?

No. LipoPeak is a separate product. The FDA's notification list does include Lipofit Extreme 2.0 Fat Burner (June 4, 2026) and LipoFit Turbo (November 27, 2024) for hidden drug ingredients, so check the exact product name on any ad before you trust a review. Worried about high blood sugar? What actually helps

LipoPeak's page talks a lot about blood sugar, so here is what medical organizations say. Nothing here replaces your own clinician.

• Signs your blood sugar may be too high. MD Anderson lists blurred vision, dizziness, frequent urination, extreme thirst and a general unwell feeling, among others. It adds that you can have high blood sugar with no symptoms, so testing matters.
• Quickest way to bring it down and “flush” sugar. There is no instant fix. MD Anderson says that when blood sugar is high, your kidneys filter excess sugar out through urine, and staying hydrated supports that. Exercise helps because muscles take up glucose for energy. Cleveland Clinic says to expect weeks or months of lifestyle change, not a quick fix.
• Best drink. Water. Both the American Heart Association and Cleveland Clinic say to choose water over sugary drinks like soda, juice, sports drinks and sweet tea. MD Anderson says no single food can lower blood sugar on its own, so a “golden drink” is not a substitute for diet, activity and medical care.
• Targets. The CDC gives typical targets of 80 to 130 mg/dL before a meal and under 180 mg/dL two hours after one, but yours may differ.
• When to call a doctor. The CDC says that if you are sick and your blood sugar is 240 mg/dL or above, check for ketones and call your doctor if they are high. MD Anderson says to see a doctor if your blood sugar is above 300 mg/dL and not responding to your usual management.

• Ask for the full supplement facts label, including the amount of each ingredient, and any studies on the finished product.
